Fruiting Body

Resupinate, covered with whitish, cream, yellowish brown or dark reddish brown spines which are conical, cylindrical or flattened and measure to about 7 mm long, margin white

Season

All year, mostly in the autumn and winter

Distribution

Rarely recorded but not uncommon in Hampshire

Habitat

On dead wood from deciduous trees, favouring beech

Microscopic Features

Spores subcylindrical, inamyloid (4-6) x (2-3) µm2. Basidia club shaped, 4 spored. Cystidia cylindrical to conical, abundant, heavily encrusted. Hyphal system monomitic, with clamps.
